FAQs
How do I book with you?
Follow the booking link on my site for flash or touch up appointments. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot for flash appointments.
If you know what flash you’d like, please put it in the appointment notes at checkout.
New flash pages are posted to my instagram story a few times a month, and I try to give a heads up a few hours before I post flash.
How Do Deposits Work?
Your $50 deposit goes towards your final tattoo price, and is nonrefundable. Deposits only hold your specific date and time slot. This is to make sure that if you no show me, or cancel last second, I don’t lose out on part of my paycheck. You’ll have to submit a new deposit to rebook if I don’t get a 24 hours notice.
How does your pricing work?
My appointment minimum is $50. Most flash are between $50-$300. Pricing is dependent on the flash piece, sizing, and placement.
If you would like a price estimate before your appointment, or if you have any budget concerns, you are welcome to send me a DM for more info.
What forms of payment do you take?
I prefer to take cash, but can also take card (adds a 2.7% processing fee).
What is your cancellation policy?
Please reschedule or cancel at least 1 day before your appointment. Your deposit will transfer to appointments rescheduled with at least 24hrs notice, but is non-refundable for cancellations.
Where Are You Located?
Black Possum Ink is a private studio located in downtown Ronceverte, WV and takes clients by appointment only.
Do you take any custom requests?
Nope, I only book my pre-drawn flash designs, and am not taking on any custom work at this time.
(please, no design changes to flash pieces)
Can I get multiple flash in one appointment?
Yes! I can typically do two small-medium tattoos or one large tattoo in a regular session. DM me before booking if you are unsure of the timing or want to extend your appointment for more flash.
Will you do matching/group tattoo sessions?
Definitely! Please DM me with more details before booking and I will let you know how to schedule.
Do You Use Color?
I work mainly with black ink, but offer limited color options as well.
Can I bring guests to my appointment?
Please limit guests to one person (unless you are coming in for a group session.)
Do you offer touch ups?
Yes! Touch ups are free for the first year and can be booked via the booking link on my site.
Are Tips Expected?
Tips are never expected, but always appreciated! :) Some clients tip with money or small gifts, and others don’t feel the need to tip. Either option is great, and all I ask is that you pay for your tattoo!
Can You Cover Up An Old Tattoo?
I currently do not offer cover ups.
Can You Tattoo Over Scars?
I am more than happy to work with a scar as long as it isn’t too severe, and at least a year old. My style is more delicate, so I will need to see the scaring in order to help you make the best decision! We can also do an in person, or email consultation.
How Big Of A Piece Can You Do?
I usually do small, simple designs around 1-4 inches.
Is There Anywhere You Won't Tattoo?
I currently don't tattoo palms of hands, feet, behind ears, side ribs, directly on knees or elbows, around armpits, inner thighs or neck.
Why? Basically, I just don’t enjoy tattooing these areas.
HandPoked Tattoos:
What The Hell Is Handpoke?
The process is similar to using a tattoo machine, but the needle is hand powered rather than electric. It's done with just a tattoo needle, tattoo ink, and the artist's hand. My current style is line work, stipple shading and the use of mainly black ink. This type of tattoo is done slowly, and comes together with one single dot at a time. This gives the tattoo a very hand drawn, slightly stippled, organic look.
Does Handpoke Hurt More Than A Tattoo From A Machine?
Usually handpoke doesn't hurt as much, as it is less invasive. This also means the skin heals quicker. But there are many factors, and everyone is different. Location, pain tolerance, and the design all play a part.
Will a Handpoked Tattoo Fade Faster Than One From A Machine?
Handpoked tattoos last just as long as any other tattoo with proper aftercare. Be sure you are keeping your skin moisturized, and protecting your tattoos from sun exposure. I offer touch ups between 6 months to a year old as needed.
How Would You Describe Your Style?
I like to think of myself as an illustrative, ignorant style tattoo artist with a nature-inspired, existential vibe.
Does A Handpoked Tattoo Take Longer To Complete?
Yes! Keep in mind a tattoo machine punctures the skin around 50 times per second. My hand punctures the skin around 2-3 times per second. So be prepared for your piece to take a little longer. Most of my flash pieces take anywhere between 1 - 3 hours to complete.
Can I Wear Topical Numbing Gel To My Appointment?
I have no problems with topical numbing gel, but please be sure your numbing gel is made specifically for tattoo use apply your numbing gel BEFORE coming in to your appointment. Also be sure to do a test patch to make sure you are not allergic, and follow instructions provided on the packaging.
Can I Take Your Designs To Another Tattoo Artist?
Please don’t. I work hard on each of my designs, and want to keep them all one of a kind. Support your local artists and their work!
Are You Ever Interested In Doing Trade Work?
Yes! I only do a few here and there with artists, and services that I’m interested in, and as long as it is a fair trade for both of us. But feel free to reach out via email.
What is the best way to contact you?
I strongly prefer Instagram messages over email. If you have additional questions, you are welcome to send me a DM and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
Will you be doing guests spots in the future?
Hopefully! All guest spots will be announced on my Instagram.
